Several athletes have pulled out of the competition citing concerns about Zika, even after the World Health Organization said the risk of catching the virus was low.
The Centers For Disease Control and Prevension's lates travel notice states: "Brazil, along with many destinations in the Americas, is experiencing an outbreak of Zika virus. Mosquitoes in the area are infected with Zika virus and are spreading it to people. The mosquitoes that spread Zika usually do not live at elevations above 6,500 feet because of environmental conditions. Travelers whose itineraries are limited to areas above this elevation are at minimal risk."
